Speech therapy is a treatment for Speech and Language disorders. A speech disorder involves a problem producing words and sounds, whereas a language disorder refers to a difficult understanding words and putting together into sentences and ideas for communication. Speech therapy helps individuals to gain the ability to communicate through speech and language. Speech therapists might use repetitive exercises and training as well as Assistive Devices for communication to assist with what is speech therapy called Augmentive and Assistive Communication, (AAC), these devices produce speech or sound for those who are nonverbal. Speech therapy plays an important role towards the holistic development in a child with Autism Spectrum disorder. It improves overall Communication, enhances Social Skills, and enables to cope up better with the society and functioning in day-to-day life. It should be started as early as diagnosis is made. At main centre along with sub centres Speech Therapy and training will be followed for those children who are delayed in speech communication. From therapeutic team Speech Therapist will assess every child who is having difficulty of speech communication by using assessment tool. According to child level therapy will be followed in different sessions by providing suitable resource room along with equipment. Special Educators also follow the speech training according to suggestions given by Therapeutic Professional. |
