Uma Educational and Technical Society, Kakinada is running "Teacher Education Programs (courses)" since 2007 with the resignation of Rehabilitation Council of India and affiliation to local universities to develop trained human resources in the field of rehabilitation. In India, we have a large number of special schools, integrated schools, inclusive education and special education programming in community based settings but still there is scarcity of professionals. In order to bridge the gap between existing teacher training facilities in Special Education and the demand for such Programs, UETS have been conducting these courses. These courses aim at training students to work with children with special needs, in different settings. A person qualified in Special Education can serve as Special Educator, Recourse Teacher and CBR worker. In addition they can assume the role as Social workers, leaders, capacity builders, developer and catalysts in the area of special education.
